Overview
The holidays are here, and so are pumpkin spice lattes (PSL). They are easy to make, and making one at home lets you set the sweetness to your own taste.

Ingredients
This version uses pumpkin-pie spices, not pumpkin puree. All you need is coffee, your choice of milk, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger:
- Coffee (espresso): 1¼ to 2 fl oz (about 37-59 ml)
- Milk (your choice): 5 fl oz (150 ml)
- Sugar: ½ teaspoon (or sweetener)
- Ground cinnamon: ¼ teaspoon
- Ground nutmeg: 1/8 teaspoon
- Ground ginger: 1/8 teaspoon
Steps
- Brew 1¼ to 2 fl oz of espresso or strong coffee into your cup.

- Mix the spices and sugar and put them in the bottom of your milk steaming pitcher, or your pot if you are using the stovetop.

- Add the milk and steam it to about 160°F (70°C).

If you do not have a milk steamer, the stovetop works. Whisk the milk and spices together as you heat it. Heat it until it is hot but not boiling, because boiled milk tastes terrible.

- Pour the hot milk into your coffee and enjoy.

Adjust the sugar or sweetener to taste. Add whipped cream if you like.
