What is Brewing Cacao?
Share
Brewing cacao is a drink made by steeping roasted, ground cacao in hot water. We ship ours ground and recommend a French press.
How it is made
We roast the cacao and grind it. You brew it at home in hot water.
Flavor
Flavor varies by origin and roast. Look at each product's tasting notes to choose one you would like to try:
- Coco de Tumaco: cocoa, whiskey, tobacco and malt
- Semuliki Bliss: chocolate cake, coconut, allspice and fig
Caffeine
Cacao contains caffeine, so it is not a caffeine-free drink.
How to brew it
Our method is about 2 somewhat rounded tablespoons per mug, a 10-minute steep in a press pot, and a slow press. The grounds can be re-infused for a second cup. See the full steps.
